The evolution of the point of sale towards smarter operations
In this project, we manufactured all the retail furniture and implemented our lighting, access control, and checkout solutions, creating an attractive, comfortable environment aligned with the new demands of retail. Thanks to this integrated approach, the store not only delivers a smoother shopping experience for customers, but also improves operational efficiency, reduces friction throughout the customer journey, and enhances security within the point of sale.
The project was structured around two differentiated payment areas: an assisted checkout zone and a self-checkout area. To guarantee operational efficiency and store security, we implemented our AlphaGate access gate at the entrance and, at the exit of the self-checkout area, installed SigmaGate integrated with ScanMaster — a scanning system that only allows gate opening once the purchase receipt has been validated.
Customers can easily choose the payment method that best suits their needs while reducing waiting times during peak hours.
Solutions such as ScanMaster increase security in the self-checkout environment and help minimise shrinkage.
By streamlining payment processes and improving operational efficiency, investment payback time is reduced.

Lighting was one of the key elements of the project, combining efficiency, functionality, and design to enhance the shopping experience within the retail environment.
For this lighting concept, we implemented our own retail lighting solutions specifically developed for commercial environments, integrating downlights such as Leo, spotlights such as Zen, and Avior linear lighting systems across different areas of the store. Each solution was strategically selected to improve product visibility, facilitate customer circulation throughout the store, and create a more comfortable and attractive retail environment.
In addition, decorative lighting was incorporated in strategic areas such as the entrance hall to provide personality and character to the space, generating a distinctive visual impact from the customer’s very first interaction with the store.
The project also included the complete development of all retail furniture within the store, combining different materials and custom solutions to create a more attractive, functional environment aligned with the store’s visual identity.
Starting from our standard furniture systems, we added new layers of value through bespoke developments such as backlit methacrylate shelving backs and decorative wooden components capable of bringing warmth and differentiation to the retail space. In addition, we incorporated furniture specifically designed for certain sections, such as the fruit and vegetable gondola, optimising both product display and the customer shopping experience.
The result is a coherent, modern, and highly functional retail environment where design, operations, and user experience work together seamlessly.
